All metal construction and works very well indeed. I looked around the net and local stores but this was the very best price I could find. I thought it may be difficult to crank but that is not the case at all. In fact it is so easy to crank I thought it was not delivering fuel. Easy to pump and good flow. Not quite so good for hydraulic fluid. All of the pump is cast iron including the handle. If you over-tighten the set screw when assembling you won't just strip the threads you will crack the handle. Also while the pump may be used on smaller than 55 gallon drums, the bung connector on the pump will not slide down over the first connection on the inlet pipe so you cannot attach the pump to smaller drums such as 15 gallon or 5 gallon. You just have to hold the pump with one hand while you crank with the other. I have used the pump numerous times and it really moves the fluids very quickly. The only downside is the length of the tube does not accomodate 15 Gallon barrels (which I use extensively) so I had to shorten and renotch the end of the tube and if I ever start using 55 gallon drums I may not reach the bottom of the drum after modification.I would recommend this product to others and I would also like to recommend the manufacturer of this product to consider putting a slip ring that would tighten around the lower tube which slides into the upper allowing for any size barrell without modification. |
